Take the track up the hill side from the southern end of Wategos Beach, about 20 mins moderate walk - views are breathtaking. Whales (between June and November), dolphins, turtles and the occasional wallaby! Check out the most Easterly Point in Australia 3/4's of the way up. Or drive up and park - $8 per hour carpark fee. Note: the gates close at sunset so don't get caught out. Check the time on the gate as you drive through. Cafe at the top near the lighthouse, with coffee and ice-cream open during the day. Great little Maritime Museum in the old light-house keeper's office. Interesting history of the area, including our wonderful indigenous heritage.

Luckily we are located only a mins walk from this beautiful National Park. Find the track at the end of Ocean Street (head down Coral Court for two houses, until you find Ocean Street). Check out wallabies, bird-life and the Tea Tree Lake. Or find the Ocean Alley, a min further on from the apartment down Beachcomber Drive (3 houses past the apartment). The alley is to the right of 20 Beachcomber Drive. Check out some of the most private coast-line in Byron. Note: This beach is not patrolled, so please be aware there are rips and strong currents along this coast-line. While some of the locals swim here, we prefer to swim at the safer beaches in town (Wategos, the Pass, Clarks beach)

And you are soooo close to it - only a few minutes walk down the sandy Ocean Alley and you'll find a 10km piece of beachy heaven. Wander along & forget the world - breath-taking scenery. Please Note: there are strong rips in the ocean along this coastline so we suggest swimming at Wategos beach, the Pass, Captain Cooks beach or Clarks beach How to find the Ocean Alley: Turn right at the Ocean Alley apartment letter-box and walk past three house down Beachcomber Drive and around the corner. The alleyway is to the right of 20 Beachcomber Drive. Enjoy!

The coolest clothing, home styling goodies and furniture in town. Both the Byron Bay and Bangalow outposts of Island Luxe are worth a visit, even if the price tags give you heart palpitations (it’s ‘luxe’ for a reason). From the couches (all-leather ones run into the 10s of thousands) to the one-of-a-kind leather goods handmade in Greece, this homeware/fashion/accessory/gift shop is what interior dreams are made of. Even if you can’t go home with a piece of furniture, there are plenty of smaller items that will fit into your suitcase (and your budget). Step outside into the patio area of the Bangalow store for a wood-and-white wonderland.
