Oh my goodness, were to start... this quaint pub is renowned in the area for it's great quality of better than pub food, its secret dining garden with views of the fields to one side and over Pagham harbour works well for a quick pub lunch or a family get together for a special occasion. An excellent wine list, friendly service and tasteful decor.. no wonder its part of the "Mr and Mrs Smith" consortium. Walkable, cycle or 3 minutes drive from Pear Tree Cottage.

Theres a walk from Itchenor to Birdham and then to Chichester Marina walking along the waters edge.. very picturesque and perfect for dog walking Its open fires in winter, makes it ideal for an after beach walk quick lunch with a glass of wine.. OR in the summer the large outdoor seating area gets very popular as its just off the main road from West Wittering beach.. Great beer battered Fish and Chips here..

We've just been to this restaurant (April 2016) as our friends and family have been saying we should go back now its in new ownership.. Well, we had a super meal. Very fresh produce and a really good maitre de on hand to show you to your table and ensure the evening starts well. This restaurant in Summer will be amazing, its outdoor terrace with little twinkly lights in the trees provides a fabulously romantic ambience. Set inside a gorgeously quite courtyard, next door to the famous Pallant Gallery - late night opening for viewing on Thursday until 8pm. Open for lunch everyday except Monday. West Dean Gardens and Parkland is stunning! A secret oasis of calm, majestic gardens with a wonderful castle-like college, home to students studying crafts, arts, textiles and horticultural courses. We have annual membership here, we love so much. The parkland expands for acres and acres, with arboretums and sheep grazing - you can walk your dog where as long as its on a lead understandably. The walled kitchen gardens with many many restored, old greenhouses still working with orchids plantations, unusual herb collections and propagating so many wonderfully beautiful species of plants. Expansive vegetable garden areas, apple orchards all within the walled grounds. Acres of manicure grounds, with established planting, some formal, and some informal. Easy parking, cafe on site with terrace and picnic tables for a quick bite to eat.

The first time we went here was a rainy day, for something to do and we were absolutely amazed at how a dreary day tired into some quite different. You can see, walk inside, generally experience these very old traditional rural buildings set in a beautiful landscape, which tell the stories of the men, women and children who lived and worked in them over a 950-year period. Set in a 40-acre site with over 50 buildings to explore and many of our exhibit houses are furnished to recreate historic domestic interiors. There is a regular programme of domestic and craft demonstrations, including cooking in our Tudor kitchen; blacksmithing in our Victorian smithy; plus seasonal demonstrations. Take a walk in the woods, bring the dog (dog friendly), theres a café or enjoy your own picnic.

Situated within a working Naval Base, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is home to a collection of fantastic attractions, historic ships and museums. There's so much to see and do. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is the only place in the world to see the Royal Navy past, present and future and is a must see for anyone visiting the south of England View ships such as : HMS Victory - the Royal Navy's most famous warship. Best known for her role in the Battle of Trafalgar, the Victory currently has a dual role as the Flagship of the First Sea Lord and as a living museum to the Georgian Navy. HMS Warrior 1860 - The fastest, largest and most powerful warship in the world when she was launched. Such was her reputation that enemy fleets were intimidated by her obvious supremacy and deterred from attacking Britain at sea - yet she never fired a shot in anger HMS Marie Rose - This Museum will be closed until Summer 2016 sometime (they haven't said when) There will be no access to the hull or the vast majority of artefacts. However, the entrance pavilion, including the Shop and Cafe will remain open. Visitors will also be able to see some artefacts and watch a newly edited 10 minute film, narrated by popular TV historian Dan Snow.
