I recommend buying an Oyster Card (available to purchase from any local newsagents - the nearest one to the apartment is The Lions's Express on Morris Road, a 3 minute walk from the apartment). You can use an Oyster Card on the Tube, DLR and Busses. I recommend uploading it with a pre-paid amount of money, then 'tap in tap out' and it will calculate the correct fee. Download the free app 'City Mapper' on your phone for detailed travel advice, which gives travel times as well as figuring out the best way to get places.
