From here you take a cable car up the mountain (show your train ticket for a discount) and you have stunning views of the Derwent Valley and can also visit the natural caves where lead was mined at the Heights of Abraham.

There's been a castle on this site since William the Conqueror. Well worth a visit for the views over Nottingham and the art museum in the palace. Entry is £6 for adults which is valid for a week and includes entry to the Brewhouse Yard museum. For an extra £5 you can also go on a tour of the castle caves.

History of Nottingham's caves, we had an actor led tour which was fantastic but I've been told the audio tour is very good also.
