Located just four miles from Trafalgar Square, Hampstead Heath is one of London's best loved green spaces. The heath has some of the best views and highest points in London for everyone to enjoy. It includes Parliament Hill, Golders Hill Park (with a zoo and butterfly house), an open air lido (open 365 days a year), swimming ponds, splash pools, countless sports pitches and facilities, athletics track, playgrounds, stunning listed pergola and hill garden and enough green space to really feel like you have escaped the City! Hampstead Heath's remarkable range of natural habitats also includes wide expanses of grassland and ancient woodland. Hampstead Heath exists today thanks to a long, hard battle that was fought through the 1800s to protect one of the last remaining ‘lungs of London’ for everyone to enjoy. For over 200 years the Heath has been a hugely popular escape from the city, especially for the gigantic fairs that flourished from around 1850, earning it the nickname ‘Appy ‘Ampstead. Hampstead Heath Parkrun. Parkruns are free, timed 5km runs held all over the country, every Saturday at 9am. This one meets at Lime Avenue, opposite Well Walk. Visit the Parkrun website for details.
