Panajachel is one of the most built-up places on the lake and can often be rather rowdy, but it's still definitely worth a visit. It has the best sunsets, the best nightlife and easily the best market, so if you're looking to stock up on beautiful Mayan clothes and textiles, this place is a must.

These ruins are smack dab in the middle of a protected jungle wilderness that is home to monkeys, toucans and macaws (just to name a few of the creatures you might spot!). As you walk amongst ruins that emerge from grassy mounds and are surrounded by trees and vines, you'll feel like you've been cast in a remake of Indiana Jones. It's utterly magical.

The jet black sand beach with the volcanic origin (yes, you read it right, there is no white pristine sandy beach) has its untamed soul surprisingly still unspoiled despite its growing popularity and is one of the must-visit places while exploring Guatemala. There are dozens of reasons to visit Monterrico and the south coast of Guatemala. It is a spectacular, beautiful area, with a variety of recreational and wilderness options. With tongue-in-cheek, Revue Associate Editor Matt Bokor gives us 10 of his favorite reasons to stop by.

Visit Semuc not only to enjoy swimming in the pools but also to explore the nearby water cave, or tube down the Cahabon River which disappears under the limestone bridge only to reappear miles later. Semuc Champey is definitely a do-it-yourself kind of attraction.

This place has everything. Theme parks, atractions for everyone, the room service of the hotel is really good. I recomend this if you have kids. Food options should be better a theme parks but at the hotel you can find better options

The Volcano of Pacaya is one of the most accessible volcanoes in Guatemala, which makes it very popular. ... This, along with the food stands that you will find on different segments of the trail and the marshmallows you will get to toast on the heat of the volcanic rock, make the experience much more fun.
