The Tide's Inn is great to visit even if not staying there. Five minute drive or 15 minute walk. A patio restaurant with a broad sweeping view of Carter's Creek, and a second dockside casual restaurant are on premises and serve the general public. Live music or karaoke some evenings in season. The grounds are beautiful and the Inn in newly remodeled in 2020. New beach and waterside walkway installed for 2021.

A walk through a maritime forest leads you to a natural beach and coastline that looks the way it did when the colonists first arrived. Natural and unspoiled and great views of the Chesapeake Bay.

Sometimes closed due to storm damage but when open, there's little water side restaurant and bar. The marina offers transient boat slips and there is a pool you can use for a fee. Nice drive down Windmill Point Rd from White Stone winding through maritime forest, marshes and water views on both sides of the road, which dead ends in a little beach on the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Rappahannock River.

White Stone is another town, about a 6 minute drive away. There is a 7-11 there, a bakery, a donut shop, a couple of restaurants described elsewhere in the guide, Willabys and the Quay/Walkabout.

A former school, now a cool B&B, you should call for dinner reservations in the "hall" (prix fixe menu), or stop by for an evening drink at the "detention" bar. In season, a guest pianist will stop by a tickle the ivories for restaurant and bar guests. Historic property. The owners and staff are delightful.

Merroir is a must visit Oyster and Seafood restaurant, located across the Rappahannock River in the Topping, Va. area. A bit pricey but the food is good (especially the oysters) and the views of the Creek out into the Rappahannock River are excellent. We typically sit outside in the yard seating area facing the water.
