Sightseeing

Cahal Pech (Place of the Ticks) Maya Site is within walking distance. At the top of road, you can pay to swim at hotel swimming pool with a view of the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, while drinking one of their 'mean' Margaritas.

The Xunantunich (Maiden of the Rock) maya site is located about 1 kilometer from the quaint Mopan Maya village of San Jose Succotz. You can go there by bus or taxi, cross on a ferry and walk or taxi up to the Site. There is a lovely view of the canopy from the tall ceremonial building. Also, you can get a nice variety of good local foods for lunch at Benny's Restaurant, in the village. Once it is not flooded, you can swim in the clean fresh flowing waters of the Mopan River, so don't forget your swim suit.
