Each stage can be walked in 1-2 hours and several stages can be easily reached using local bus services. There are several pubs along the way and Malmesbury, Sherston, and Luckington have local shops selling food and drinks.

Luckington's history goes back to Harold the Second , later to be the King of " arrow his eye fame" First Lord of the Manor (Now Luckington Court ) where the 1997 Pride and Predjudice with Colin Firth was filmed their and at the beautiful 12th Century Norman Church. Luckington is the birthplace of the River Avon which flow out at Bristol and was home to Sir Stewart Menzies , Head of MI5 where Ian Fleming got the character M from in the James Bond films as well as the Traitor Captain Robert Treek , a Baron and German Agent who mistyriously disappeared during WW 11.
