Pubs & Restaurants

We have selected a range of places to sample, from a tradional parish owned pub to fine country dining
www.candlelight-inn.co.uk - This is our closest pub in the village of Bishopswood. If you are looking for a high quality Gastropub meal then this is the place to go! Booking advised. A fantastic country pub with excellent food and welcoming staff. It is a pleasant 20 minute stroll from the Barn via a picturesque nature reserve, or a little longer perhaps via the road (if you are walking in the dark we would recommend the road route! There are hills too!). They do have outside undercover tables should you be visiting in times of restrictions, but they do get very booked up so do book!

www.thepighotel.com/at-combe - This is a real treat for us and we usually only visit for a special occasion. On a sunny day it is beautiful, sitting out on the lawn with a G&T, or wandering through the kitchen gardens – and then eating what you have just seen! This is about a 25 minute drive away but if you are wanting a special treat then it is worth it!

www.yorkinn.co.uk - This is in the nearby village of Churchinford where you will also find the village shop and Post Office. Much more of a ‘local’ pub with a pool table and dart board, and you will always get a warm welcome. The homemade pies are what we would recommend!

www.theflintlockinn.co.uk - This is just over the border into Devon, but still under a 10 minute drive away. In our opinion this is the best place for a Sunday Roast if you like a good old fashioned English meal (with Treacle Sponge to die for!). Homecooked, comfort food and friendly staff.
