Sightseeing
This is the closest beach to the house. It is shale, but good for a quick evening paddle or for the kids to do some rock climbing.
Just walk downhill from the house towards the sea, past the top of Fore Street just facing the sea and heading towards it - easy peasy!

Verity is our resident sculpture by Damien Hurst. She looks out over the sea from the harbour as if protecting us! If you walk up to St Nicolas’s chapel, there is an information board on her as well as a different view.

Walking/hiking
Hillsborough is excellent for a short hike not far from town, providing excellent views up the coast to Combe Martin, and back over Ilfracombe Harbour.
There is now an information board about Hillsborough Fort part way up the main pathway past the swimming pool.
