Sightseeing

This beach can be accessed from 3 or more different locations and each one offers a different walking experience. If you park at 3 cliffs campsite they charge a few pounds for parking but you get the most dramatic views as you walk down to the beach. Careful of rip tides if your swimming here. Flags should mark safe areas to swim. The easiest access in terms of terrain is from Shepards shop near the Gower inn, through the woods but still a trek.

Park at Bishopston post office or close by. For a good walk take Brandy Cove Road and follow the coastpath to Pwlldu (Blackpool in English). There is the lane from there that will take you back to the car making for a round trip. Alternatively it is a shorter walk straight to Pwlldu on Pwlldu Lane. The stones on the beach is actually ballast from the boats coming from Ilfracombe and taking back limestone from the quarry in Kittle.

On a low tide this offers access to 3 cliffs bay. Pobbles bay is a lovely beach too and you can usually find a parking spot in the village (Southgate). locals will let you know how to get down to the beach but there is a cul de sac opposite the post office, walk to the end then there is a footpath behind a gate, it's a nice walk on mixed terrain. Careful of the tide here. it comes in fast and you can get cut off on the 3 cliffs side and it's a longer walk back to the car.

This is the best place to experience Gower without having to clamber over any turnstiles. There is a pub on the cliff top easily accessible from the car park that does food with views over to Llangeneth. It can get busy during the Summer. You can do the walk out to the worm but leave enough time between tides to get back.

Food Scene

Really good food, reasonable prices. Bit of a car jouney from the chalet. It's a traditional pub setting.. the music stops and everyone turns around for a second when you walk in but it's worth it. Walks nearby from the pub carpark to Horton beach on a footpath all the way but b road on the way back for a round trip. Located in Llanmadoc, North Gower with amazing veiws over the Loughor estuary.

Really good pizza and nice people. They gave me yeast during lockdown so I could make my own pizza's..that won me over. It's in Mumbles close to the Co-op you can eat in or order over the phone and collect. https://www.papis-pizzeria.com/

These guys are a local sensation, creating a storm on trip advisor from a tiny hut the size of half a shed. https://www.gowerseafoodhut.co.uk/ They have no inside space but it's close enough to get it back to the chalet before it gets cold but best eaten in the wild. They have a few outside chairs as I remember or there's the sea wall. In Mumbles on the promenade.

The Gower experience with out the exertion. Busy road during the Summer and possibly Easter. Food is standard fair.

Really good ice cream made onsite. They do larger tubs you can take home with you or small tubs and traditional cones to take out. Watch out as some flavours have alcohol. Really good toasted sandwiches and well priced breakfast. It's it's on the way to Mumbles from the chalet via bracelet bay (the scenic route).

I actually don't use this place very much although there is nothing wrong with it. Steak and chips right on the beach. It's a 30 minute walk from the chalet on the coast path to Langland bay so convenient for an evening out without a car. Recommend torches if you plan to walk home on the path after dark as there's no lighting and no barrier in places. Taxi service in Mumbles will take you back.

This is a good pub and brewery in Bishopston. It's also where the locals sometimes gather. Not sure if they do food. Set times if they do.

The Bakery!! They bake onsite. Want gifts to take home for people, Welsh cakes are the way forward. The challenge is to not eat them all before you get home.

Adventure

For the more adventurous, see Gower from the coast. these are day trips on a repurposed lifeboat, very fast and unsinkable. I have been twice and saw dolphins on one occasion and seals on both occasions. It leaves from Oxwich bay, approx 30 mins, with traffic from the chalet. Oxwich has a Hotel that serves good food. Here's the website.. https://www.gowercoastadventures.co.uk/

I think this gets quite busy during school holidays so may need to prebook. They surf at Caswell so very convenient for the chalet. They hire the wetsuits and the boards for surfing and paddle boarding. Here's the link - https://www.gowersurfingshop.com/

Shopping

This is where the main shops are for food, Coop, Marks and Spencers and a tesco local. There are also cafe's, deli's, clothes and gift shops, a good Indian restaurant at the top of Newton Road. All the usual fair, 10 mins drive away from the chalet.

This is a handy shop if you want to avoid The Mumbles. They are well stocked and can get most things. 5 minutes from the chalet in the other direction, the village is Bishopton.
