We love the refuge. Traditional recipes and cooked without electricity. A perfect place for the traditional "raclette" or "fondue". Nice terrace as well for the nice Summer days with a beautiful view.

We love the menu at the Alchimiste. Perfect for a lunch or diner. At lunch, the menu includes burgers and the perfect "Club Sandwich". Otherwise, this is the best place around for the perfect cut of beef...

Sightseeing
Nothing can beat the view and experience at Glacier 3000. Totally worth the trip (plan in advance, the weather conditions are an important factor for your best experience). We don't go there really for skiing, rather more for the view and for the Alpine Coaster "The highest situated toboggan run in the world". Plenty of other activities there, such as hiking, climbing and nice restaurants as well.

Nothing can beat the view and experience at Glacier 3000. Totally worth the trip (plan in advance, the weather conditions are an important factor for your best experience). I started skiing with my son the 2019/2020 season. Immediately we looked at the ESS Villars to help us learn the practice. The many possible lesson options make it very flexible for everyone. We had our lessons in the afternoon which was very convenient... highly recommend.

[Summer only] Free Access Card
In the summer months (from 1st July until end October), Villars offers to all guests the possibility to receive a Free Access Card. This card allows for free transportation around Villars as well as many activities which are either free or discounted. To get your Free Access Card, guests must settle the local tourism tax at the Tax Office, 50m away from Chalet Balthazar The Loft. The ski domain at Villars is great for families. I can only recommend to book your ski pass in advance to benefit of reduced rates. Also note of the COVID refund conditions.
