Camp Plymouth State Park

We've enjoyed this park at all times of the year - it features some family-friendly hiking trails, including one along a river where hobbyists pan for gold. The lakeside portion of the park has a sandy swimming beach, a large playground, and bathhouses. Bring your kayak (or one of ours) and paddle out to a small island in the middle of the lake, or just read a book under the shady trees. Towering pines, vibrant ferns, rocky streams... this park has it all! (During the summer of 2020, there was even a food truck that made lattes to order - a rare treat during COVID-19).

The Ledges

At the highest part of the Hawk Mountain Resort, the Ledges condo association has a quiet flat road perfect for a stroll. Our kids ride their bikes on it, neighbors are often out walking dogs and saying hello. In the summer there are blackberries to pick at the end of the street, and a grassy area for lawn games. During the colder months the views are amazing, as you can see through the trees and across the valley. Access to private hiking trails is just off this road, and in the fall the foliage is magnificent.

Our favorite restaurant that's been open during the pandemic - either for take-out or for outdoor seating during the warmer months. Delicious salmon and amazing homemade truffle fries, good beer/wine selection, and outdoor live music during the warmer months.

Hawk Inn and Mountain Resort

The resort is closed right now, and seeking new owners. When it re-opens our unit will once again have access to the on-site restaurant, 4-season outdoor pool, and other amenities. In the past, there were even riding stables! And even while the resort is closed, guests can enjoy the network of private hiking and x-country ski trails, a sledding hill in the winter and tennis courts and a boat dock in the warmer months.
