Sightseeing

A little gem. You can walk from the house ( 20 mins) or take the car there. It is a peaceful environment. Take the time to explore the charming Origlio old village, and the " Chiesa di San Giorgio" . If you drive, you can park behind the " Comune di Origlio". There is a beautiful kids playground on the lake.

Stunning Hike to the " Capanna" that offers delicious local food. Drive from Comano to Bidogno then follow the signs and continue driving uphill – the road is narrow and full of bends – until we reach a metal bar. If your kids are prone to motion sickness, do bring a plastic bag (just in case). Park ther car in the (free) parking lots by the side of the road, just before the metal bar; keep in mind that they are not plentiful so leave early. The hike on the tarred road takes about one hour...if you plan to bring a stroller make sure it one that can go "off road" as the last 500 meters are gravel. There are great toilets at the bottom of the " Capanna" and they offer a wide range of food options and in summer you can stay until late. You can even book and sleep in the refuge. Conseils sur la ville

Voyage avec des enfants

Kids menus are not that popular in the region

You can still ask to have a normal " pasta"/ pizza divided into 2 or 3 portion.

The coffee etiquette

Usually cappuccino's or " tazza grande" are served only in the morning, ( Latte - do not exist, please not that if you ask for a " Latte" it just means Milk in italian...so you will be served a cup of milk) From lunch time, most people will have: - Espresso liscio ( just pure coffee - espresso size) - Macchiato ( Espresso with foam milk) - Espresso "lungo" macchiato ( it is a longer version of the expresso... still served in a small espresso cup" - Tazza Grande : looks like an americano ( with or without milk) - Caffe crème: espresso with a drop of cream

If you still want to enjoy the local food but save money: - Lunch time are very convenient if you go for the " menu of the day" , sometimes it is about 12-15 CHF - "Food shops restaurants" are often delicious and affordable. Kids menu often is about 6-7 CHF. - Ristorante Manor ( right in the middle of Lugano, serves awesome food and it is super convenient - opened in the evenings too) - Ristorante Coop ( one in the city center with a huge terrace overlooking the old city) or Ristorante Coop ( Ressega)

Go to a local Pizzeria

Pizzas are often the most popular way for people to congregate and eat out. Most pizzerias are not fancy, but they do a great job. All pizza come thin-crust, and some restaurants do offer the options for various doughs.
