Chris's Beacon Point Restaurant & Villa Accommodation

FINE DINING at Chris’s Restaurant (modern Greek cuisine) is a MUST but you must book ahead in Summer!! Chris’s is a destination restaurant with modern Greek cuisine, people come from all over Australia to visit this place - repeatedly. The views overlooking Skenes Creek Hill and the entire Bass Straight are incredible, the staff fun and vibrant and the best in the business. They offer a great wine list with A LOT of surprises throughout regional Victoria and South Australia, and of course Greece 🇬🇷! This place is an institution and without a doubt best food in the region. I highly recommend it for a special occasion and be sure to start the night off with the Kir Yianni pink champagne. Chris's Restaurant is the only restaurant in Skenes Creek and is about a (very short) 3-minute drive from HOUSE OF NOMADS.

Cafe 153

Cafe 153 is my first choice for BREAKFAST 🍳. They have a great spot on the corner in town, directly across the road from the Apollo Bay Information Tourist Centre ℹ️. They serve great coffee, eggs on toast (in multiple ways), and other healthy modern breakfast-type meals. The staff are usually charming, even when run off their feet in high Summer. Stay kind!

Casalingo

Casalingo is the place to be for PIZZA & PASTA. It is an Apollo Bay institution run by locals and is actually the old squash club! The food is fantastic and so is the wine, classic Italian but it is a bit pricey so be prepared. The decor is super comfy and a great place for birthdays and group bookings. Especially on a cozy Winter night. Bookings are a MUST in Summer. They also do takeaways for lazy cooks.

Casalingo is the place to be for PIZZA & PASTA. It is an Apollo Bay institution run by locals and is actually the old squash club! The food is fantastic and so is the wine, classic Italian but it is a bit pricey so be prepared. The decor is super comfy and a great place for birthdays and group bookings. Especially on a cozy Winter night. Bookings are a MUST in Summer. They also do takeaways for lazy cooks.

FUNKY & FRIENDLY CAFE & GENERAL STORE Wye River General Store is a funky place to visit and is only a short 30 minutes from Skenes Creek. It is located across the road from the beach on the Great Ocean Road. They serve great coffee and healthy cafe-style dishes and also stock amazing local brands such as bread from Irrewarra (Geelong) and herbal tonics from Love Tea (Torquay) in their general store. Wye General Store offers a great opportunity to take a drive out of Skenes Creek and visit another nearby beach, minus the long dizzy drives.

Apollo Bay Fishermen's Co-Operative offers the QUINTESSENTIAL AUSTRALIAN 'FISH & CHIP' EXPERIENCE. They are located at the Apollo Bay Pier & at Pascoe St (parallel to the Great Ocean Road) which is right in the center of town. Their "headquarters" and original dwelling though are at the local pier which is a very casual old shed with an outdoor eating area and a spectacular view of the bay. LOCAL LOBSTERS are available for sale here (cooked or fresh) along with a small selection of other local "catch of the day" direct from the Bass Straight.
