Pedion tou Areos is the largest public park in Athens. It consists of 230 acres and is surrounded by Alexandras and Mavromataion, Evelpidon and Bousgou streets. The main entrance of the park is at the intersection of Alexandras and Mavromataion streets, however there are entrances from the other streets that surround it. The name of the Grove is related to the military exercises that took place during the reign of King Otto in front of the Temple of the Brigadiers from the Latin "Campus Martius". Although it is scarcely visited by tourists, it is a nice place to have a stroll or jogging or cycling in the daytime. Next to the park in Mavromataion Street is the terminal bus station to Rafina Port.

The Numismatic Museum of Athens hosts one of the greatest collections of coins, ancient and modern, in the world. It is housed in the Iliou Melathron (the name meaning "Palace of Troy"), which was constructed in 1880 as the residence of the famous archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann who discovered the ancient Troy and the Mycenaean sites. In the inner courtyard garden of the museum there is a café where under the trees, at the heart of the city, you can enjoy coffee or snacks or a late afternoon drink.
