Small village in a wooded valley with little beaches / coves that can be accessed in different ways depending on the tides. A favourite for rock-pooling , swimming, kayaking (there is a sort of slipway), bird & sea-life spotting. A good link to the coat path to walk to Ilfracombe or Mortehoe/Woolacombe. There is a pub called The Grampus which has a microbrewery and serves good food.

Beach

Beautiful long Sandy beach that wraps up to meet the Taw Estuary and around to Crow Point with Braunton Burrows Biosphere Sand dunes behind. There is parking at the beach or on Braunton Burrows at Sandy Lane car park but this is a walk over the burrows to the beach.

Beautiful estuary beach - walk down the boardwalk or along the estuary edge with panoramic coastal views across to Instow, Appledore, Westward Ho! or Lundy depending on your direction. Not so suitable for swimming on the estuary side, but walk closer to the point and around to the sea and you can swim there - you are at the far end of Saunton Beach at this point.
