Great food!

Favorite places to eat!
This is by far one of the best lunch places—anywhere. On weekends and holidays, they are slammed so prepare to wait 45 minutes for a table. The cool thing is you can check in, go walk around town, and they call your cell phone when a table is ready. Don’t let the name and casual café atmosphere fool you into thinking this is a quick in and out meal… everything is homemade AND made to order, so food does take up to 15-20 minutes. But we guarantee you will not be disappointed. Bright flavors, an imaginative and fresh menu, killer sandwiches, and friendly staff. Oh, they also sell flowers and cool Japanese tea pots!

This place is located in Wynola, about a 5-minute drive outside of the main part of Julian. It is the fanciest place the area has to offer, and definitely worth the short trek outside town if you are entertaining or are wanting an intimate date night. They offer fresh, farm-to-table eats, and their menu changes with the seasons. The prices match what you would expect from a restaurant that airs on the casual side of fine-dining. The décor is table-cloths-and-candles meets rustic-ranch. Great wine list, awesome food, and VEGETARIANS, this place is for you! Though they have a fabulous assortment of steaks and other carnivorous dishes, Chef Jeremy’s sister and mother are vegetarians, so people

This place has a great bar area (with a good-sized bar top), as well as a dining room and a large patio. The pizza is good, the salads are big and fresh, and the beer is cold. Dine in or carry out. And if you’re ever there on Thursday evenings, you will be in for a treat because it’s Open Mic Night! This is the night where locals gather to mingle and show off their talent!

Drinks & Nightlife

These are my favorite places for beer, wine, and live music.
Master brewer Tom Nickel is not only famous in Julian, but in all of San Diego. He is an award-winning brewer that will please both the traditional, and the adventurous beer drinker. This bar is technically a tasting room (so they do not serve any food), but it is the only place in town that feels like a “bar.” It’s small, dark, and fabulously local. There is a large patio with many tables, and a beautiful natural wood structure. You can play Washers (similar to Cornhole), or just make new friends as it is the perfect place for mingling with the locals!

Well besides the fact that I'm the Chaplain here, it's a great place for active duty and veterans for pool tournaments, cocktails, music, and occasional live music.

Entertainment & Activities

This is a cool glimpse into the gold mining history of Julian. You will get a tour through an old gold mine, and can even pan for gold! Fun for the whole family (not for the claustrophobic or those who can't climb a ladder).
