The most incredible nachos, they also do amazing fish platters. There's a large selection of beer, plus a really cosy vibe inside. Outside there is plenty of seating on a pontoon over the water, it's a beautiful place for an evening drink or to enjoy the sunshine on Leith! You can't book a table here, which means you might get a spot last minute if other places are full!

A wonderful place for afternoon tea, or a grab-and-go coffee and cake from their large selection of home-baking. There's something for everyone!

Toast is a bit of everything, but they do it all so well. Brilliant coffee. Delicious cakes. Industrial, exposed brick, modern vibe. Incredible breakfast. All day 'breakfast style' food during the day, with a restaurant menu at night. But don't think that's just a Full Scottish. Their Smoked Haddock and Pak Choi Sourdough is out of this world. If smoked haddock and pak choi are your thing...

One of the oldest style pubs in the area - in all the best ways! You feel like you're stepping back in time to a decadent, fisherman's bar, equipped with a fire crackling in the corner. It has a wonderful menu, and is also the place for a Sunday roast!

If street food, beer trucks, and a busy chatty vibe are your scene then look no further than The Pitt Market. If you do nothing else, try the Buffalo Burger or the Steak & Fries. They are game changers. With recently renovated large indoor seating, this is now the perfect place to come rain or shine. They're only open on Saturdays - so check their Facebook page for updates if you're wanting to make a trip there. Take the Water of Leith pedestrian path along the waters edge, and you'll be there in around 10 minutes.

If you fancy a spot of shopping during your stay, there's no need to head up to Princes Street. Instead walk 5 minutes along the water front to Ocean Terminal. With a selection of clothing and gift stores, there's also a whole host of restaurants (including a cheeky Nandos - with a view over the open sea), and a Vue cinema. There's a roller-skate rink which has been unfortunately shut due to Covid but hopefully will reopen down the line.

If steak is a bit of you, then head straight to Chop House. It's local, only a few minutes walk from the property, and it serves up a mouth watering selection of steaks. The restaurant itself has a dimly lit, modern vibe, the staff are incredibly friendly, and you can't go wrong with your food order. Don't eat for a while before to ensure you're ready for the delicious food, and mac sure to order the Mac & Cheese side. It's incredible.

Leith boasts its own local Michelin star restaurant. The Kitchin. If you're looking for fine dining, this is the one. The portion sizes are generous for the fine dining experience, and the atmosphere, staff, and food are all faultless. Book way in advance though - weekends here can book up months ahead of time!

This is one of the best coffee places in the area. The roast their coffee on site, and distribute to many other businesses. Hidden under the archway over the far side of the water, it's a real hidden gem. There's also often a food truck or two hidden away down Custom Lane as well. Sit out on the pink bench seats and enjoy your delicious drink with one of the best views.

If you're a die hard pizza fan, you're in luck. Recently opened Pizza Geeks (their original shop is in Haymarket) is just 2 minutes down the road. Edinburgh really does have it all. It even has a beach on its doorstep. A 10 minute walk and you're at the start of the beach. Take the cycle path over the road or head down the slightly steep hill (watch your step!) to get onto the very end of the beach. This part is particularly quieter because it's away from the hustle and bustle of Portobello. Beautiful views all the way round the North Berwick in the distance. Head along the sands to the Promenade or simply enjoy this quieter stretch of sandy beach. (The tide does come in to this section of beach and can cut it off from the main section of beach, but there is access on and off via the cycle path or embankment).

This is a beautiful, scenic, flat walkway that takes you right from Leith, right through the heart of the city, and out towards the South-West of Edinburgh. If you're looking to escape that 'city' feel then hop onto this path and get lost in the woodland and bird song. It's a local favourite for runners, cyclists, and walkers - so they'll be plenty of people along the way, busiest at the 'commuter hours' as Edinburgh's community love to commute by bike. Nip off at the many, easily signed exit points along the way to visit other areas such as New Town, Stockbridge, or Granton.
