A very popular Pub/Restaurant, just a 12 min. walk from Homelands. I sometimes pop in for a Pint of 'Woodmancote Ale' or 'Doom Bar' and a packet of dry-roasted peanuts. Good play area outside for kids as well.

City/town information

Cheltenham is famous for three things: The beautiful parks; the exiting Festivals, and the Regency architecture. Just 12-14 min. by car from Homelands. I always like the 'Montpellier' area, full of small shops, delightful bars, coffee shops and quirky eating places.

Ok, so Broadway is a BROAD WAY. Beautiful, old properties, lovely shops, great Pubs and Restaurants. Extremely popular with visitors for a more 'upmarket' experience than some other Cotswolds honeytraps. We love to park in Broadway, and walk up to Broadway Tower. But sometimes we like to park at Broadway Tower, and walk down to Broadway. What goes up, has to come down. Try 'Russells Brasserie' for an excellent meal, coffee, lunch, or just a glass of wine. They also do excellent Fish and Chips from the side street, just behind the main Brasserie.

Little Venice? Hmm, maybe not. (having been to Venice myself...).But yes, Bourton-on-the-Water is lovely, if a bit touristy. But you ARE a Tourist, aren't you? Try to go before 11AM or after 5PM to miss the worst of the crowds and really enjoy your visit. Hmm, btw, PARKING can be a bit of a nightmare...

Stow-on-the-Wold, where the wind blows cold. Yes, that maybe true on a nasty Winter's day. Great antique shops, Deli's, Pubs... Some 30-35 Min. by car from Homelands. Nearby is Moreton-on-Marsh (10 Min. up North) and Bourton-on-the Water (10 Min. down South).

This is an open air museum of a destroyed monastery. There is a bit indoors as well - and so is the Gift Shop. Don't miss out on the charming little 11th. Century Saxon Church directly opposite - look out for the famous murals. And while you are there, visit Hailes Fruit Farm for some delicious apple juice or cider.

So this is where we cycled to with our boys, when they were little. Animal petting, play-area, cafe, rare breeds, conservation, nature trail... Now the boys are in their 30's and we took them this year and they still loved it!

The ' family seat' of a proper English Aristocrat, the 13th Earl of Wemyss and March. He has pursued a program of restoration for a number of years. The house and grounds are open to the public on a limited basis each summer. Also visit the gravity-fed fountain!
