Sightseeing

This is my favorite attraction in the area. Wonderful for couples, families with kids and friends. In 2021 they launched a new exhibit called "Guardians of the Seed" which is fantastic and well worth the visit. Make advance reservations as they have timed entry and have been known to sell out.

A harbor cruise is one of the best ways to experience Boothbay Harbor. Learn about Boothbay's ties to the movie "Carousel", enjoy the islands and maybe spot a seal or harbor porpoise.

Food scene

Fun spot to eat - they have good pizzas and amazing fries. Our favorite beer is the Thirsty Botanist. Visit on a summer Friday for "Brisket Friday" (limited tickets - first come first serve) or Saturday for the brisket pizza made with the leftovers ;-) YUM. This place gets the "CHAMP STAMP OF APPROVAL" for dog friendliness.

We like to go here and eat outside or on the 2nd level deck. The food is good and so is the drink menu. On Friday evenings, they have a Fish & Chips special for only $10 which is popular with the locals. We think the decor is cool - especially the bar on the 2nd floor which has some very cool nautical themed furnishings.

Day Trips

The Pemaquid Penninsula is gorgeous, and makes a nice full or half day excursion from Boothbay Harbor. Take in Newcastle/Damariscotta, Bristol, the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (one of the most inspiring in Maine)

Rockland is a 45 minute (37 mile) drive from Boothbay Harbor. The drive itself is quite nice - traveling through some rolling fields and passing landmarks such as Moody's Diner along the way. Rockland has a large, open waterfront, quaint shops and restaurants. Home to the Farnsworth Art Museum, The Maine Lighthouse Museum, and the Sail, Power and Steam Museum - this is a nice day trip.

Dog Friendly

The BBRLT trails are dog friendly and dogs can be off leash. They do ask that dog owners have their pets under their control at all times. This means dogs should not be running unsupervised or approaching other dogs and people. Ovens mouth is a great stop where you can enjoy the gorgeous coastline while letting your best friend romp and play.
