Sightseeing

As a fairly new resident to NC I had no idea how instrumental Greensboro and the surrounding areas were in the revolutionary war. The park and museum do an excellent job of creating an informing yet engaging narrative. The monuments mingled throughout natural surroundings brings a poignance to the experience. A fun fact I was recently told is that a lot of this area features in one of the outlander novels which is also now a popular Netflix show that mingles fantasy ideals with real history.

For anyone with kids I highly recommend the Greensboro science center. It has numerous fun attractions for sparking young scientific minds but also has an aquarium, zoo and zip line.

Outdoor Activities

If like Alex and I you enjoy getting out in nature, in this category I will include some places to take a nice stroll, hike, kayak, swim, picnic etc
If you enjoy hiking, hanging rock is a great place to visit within the Piedmont. There are plenty of trails to chose from that can accommodate easy, moderate and strenuous. Several trails include panoramic views of the area, strand and waterfalls. There is also a lake there with a small man made beach for those that may like to swim and is also stocked with trout for those that like to fish.

Looking for an indulgent treat, Alex’s cheesecake is Devine! Lots of flavors to choose from and even a gluten free option. Ps. This is not a plug…owned by a totally different Alex 😅

This is a place Alex and I frequent when we want a little treat. I’d describe it as casual chic, modern and classy venue with a warm ambience. Just upscale enough for me to not feel out of place in a nice dress and heels and not too ritzy Alex doesn’t feel out of place in his jeans. The food I’d describe as Americanized classics done well. The caramelized onion and basil pasta is a favorite, as is the pimento cheese dip, Marsala chicken and prime rib.
