Beautiful town, famous for the Bakewell Pudding. Visit the old original Bakewell Pudding shop where you can buy (or send by post) a hand made pudding. Gift shop, food hampers, afternoon tea and more to be found in this stunning 17th Century building in the very heart of The Peak District. The traditional Bakewell Market is held here every Monday. Be prepared- it gets extremely busy here (weather permitting). Parking can be found (at a cost) in the Smith car park (over the old Bakewell bridge towards Baslow - take a right after the bridge, by the monument. Turn right into carpark. Continue past first car park on right. Larger short /long stay car park to the rear. So much to see. Walk by the river Wye . Marvel at the five arched medieval bridge. Visit Bakewell Meusum. Or have a stroll around the variety of shops. Gifts, clothing, cafés, tea rooms, pubs. Beautiful old town steeped in history. Very pretty.

Such a stunning house. I personally prefer this to Chatsworth. You can feel, see and smell the history. It gives you goose bumps! Just beautiful. An absolute MUST in my opinion. Haddon Hall was the backdrop for several film and TV versions of Jane Eyre, including Cory Fukunagas's acclaimed 2011 movie, cult film The Princess Bride (1987), Elizabeth (1998), Pride and Prejudice (2005) and The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) ************************************ HADDON HALL CLOSED TO PUBLIC FROM APRIL- 19th JUNE 2022 due to filming taking place of upcoming Drama ( Firebrand) with Jude Law.

Tideswell is a lovely place to visit. It is known as 'The Cathedral Of The Peak'. The church dominates the centre of this small town. It's worth visiting the church and reading about its history. You can also find the grave of Joe Sellers ( the Black Smith that owned The Old Smithy) as you enter the church yard on the left hand side! For all you walkers- there are several. After exploring the town, you may be in need of some refreshments? There are at least four pubs and three cafés dotted in and around the town. NOTE: Tideswell Food Festival 12th & 13th May 2023. (see my guide book)
