Lost Creek Falls is a very scenic waterfall located in the woods southwest of Cornucopia. It is a 2.2 mile hike on a well-marked trail with boardwalks to get to the falls. The final hike down to the falls is not accessible for people in wheelchars. The falls consists of an 8' plunge with a few feet of cascades above and below the plunge. You can walk behind the falls, which is not common for waterfalls around Lake Superior. There is a small 3' cascade a short distance downstream of the main waterfall.

A lesser-known, but very pretty waterfall on Spring Brook/Waboo Creek, class one trout streams. There is no marked trail to this waterfall, but if you park on Spring Brook Road just before it crosses Spring Brook and hike northwest along the south edge of the creek about half a mile, you will find the falls. There is a flat area with a fire pit made of rocks by the falls. https://goo.gl/maps/pf5ATRcNhXoR23Ka9

Sightseeing

At 1600 feet above sea level you will have arrived at St. Peter's Dome - locally known as "old baldy". This popular overlook is the highest point in the forest and affords long views over the Chequamegon national forest to Ashland and the Apostle Islands beyond. At the bald outcropping, you will notice that the hill behind you ascends a few feet higher. At the top of this hill is a geologic survey marker. The trail to St. Peter's Dome is nearly 2 miles one-way and is fairly rugged with exposed rocks and steep slopes. From the top, is a breathtaking view of Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. Wear good hiking shoes. This is also where Morgan Falls is, but the trail to the falls is only .75 miles and a much easier hike. There is a $5 day use pass for this recreation site. The Forest also has an annual pass available for $30. To learn more visit

Food scene

Great breakfast food in a cool vintage diner. On Weds-Sunday the Earth Rider Brewing Tap Shack next to the diner serves great Jamaican Jerk food and plays Reggae music. Weds/Thurs: serving Jerk Chicken Thighs w/ grilled pineapple, Spicy Jerk Pork Bites, or Seafood Fritters. These are all “bar baskets” served with side sauce. Friday: serving your choice of Caribbean Style Steamed Lake Trout with vegetables or our Jerk Pork Back Ribs. Each includes grilled corn on the cob. Sat/Sun: serving our “Lilliput Special” of a Jerked Half Chicken with Rice and Peas, Callaloo, and Festival Bread.

Very good bar food, extremely eclectic interior, has a theater in back and stage outside. Was built by Gary Penman, the brother of the man who built our house and rental. Named after the old sawmill on our neighborhood trails that Gary made to build all these homes.

Pickle Ball courts with equipment and a large shelter built by Gary Penman, the guy who built our house and rental and all the other places in our neighborhood.
