The gently shelving beach is divided up by a series of timber groynes. Frinton’s sand is of the type that is perfect for making sandcastles - nice and firm. This means it is also ideal for running around on and beach games, further asserting its credentials as a fine family beach.
To the rear of the beach is an extensive promenade, much of which is lined with colourful, old-fashioned beach huts. There is also an extensive grassy area, the Greensward, which is an ideal spot for a picnic.

Wandering beside the River Stour or looking at Flatford Mill and Willy Lott's House you can feel as if you are actually walking through one of his paintings.
This is great walking country, with our Orange and Purple Trails providing easy access to beautiful landscapes. Dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on the lead at all times as we have livestock grazing. Please follow the goverments social distancing guidelines at all times. Please note that Suffolk County Council has closed Fen Bridge between Flatford and Dedham for safety reasons. However, you can still walk between the two villages using the paths beside the river Stour.
