This is a great family hike and the trails are generally busy. Use good trail manners and move over for people ascending or passing. Also be mindful of the flora and stay on trail. Bikers are to yield to hikers and horses. But it is a hard ride! So if they are ascending help them out by allowing them to pass.

This is a great hole in the wall river spot. Mostly only locals know about it. We always skip past Lair ‘O the Bear to come here. It has picnic benches, hiking and exploring trails and a nice slow stretch of the river to play in. Cell phone service is terrible, so don’t expect to make phone calls.

I grew up in Green Mountain and our summers wouldn’t be complete without the faint roar of engines echoing through our backyard. (Don’t worry, our house is far enough not to hear.) Racing goes on all summer. The Mile High Nationals takes place every July. They also have smaller events, local enthusiast races, high school competitions, etc.
It’s closed for the winter, but during the holidays they host a drive-thru Christmas light attraction that is awesome. It’s pay by car, so load up the gang and get some hot cocoa on the way!

3051 S Rooney RdI grew up in Green Mountain and our summers wouldn’t be complete without the faint roar of engines echoing through our backyard. (Don’t worry, our house is far enough not to hear.) Racing goes on all summer. The Mile High Nationals takes place every July. They also have smaller events, local enthusiast races, high school competitions, etc.
It’s closed for the winter, but during the holidays they host a drive-thru Christmas light attraction that is awesome. It’s pay by car, so load up the gang and get some hot cocoa on the way!
For a pay-per-car entry fee you get access to the lake and surrounding trails/camping/etc. There are paddle boards to rent, horse back riding and more. Local bikers park on Morrison road and bike in.

You may get into a debate over the better choice: sprinkles or chocolate dipped. Don’t miss this gem after a day on the river or window shopping with friends.

And it is slow to get through, averaging 20 minutes. But we love it! Try the breakfast burritos or really any burrito, it’s called Burrito Express for a reason. 😀
