A must see! This historic tram was built amazingly in 1963 and transports you from the desert floor, up to the peak of the San Jacinto Mountains (over 8000 feet above sea level). Amazing 360 views during the 12 minute ride. You can go from desert to a snowy summit within minutes! Bring a jacket or buy one at the top. Great hikes at the top.

Just because you have vacationed to the desert doesn't mean you have to leave the mountains behind. One of the most amazing sights in Palm Springs are the mountains that almost look like a Hollywood background! Why not visit the top of the mountain?! There is a quick tram ride that you can take up the mountain that is on the North End of the Palm Springs. The tram itself is an incredible experience as it is the largest rotating tram car with nothing but windows.  You'll get 365 degree views as you reach the San Jacinto Summit (>8500 ft elevation).   Amazingly this was built in 1963! If you want an all day adventure take highway 74 it's about 45 min to an hour but the scenic route will keep your eyes busy! Family friendly

A little locals tip: Use the 29 Palms City entrance, not the Joshua Tree Entrance. Less traffic and closer to the "main forest."
