The Food Scene Most Tourists Don't Know
This is a collection of a few local restaurants and eateries that have previously provided us with above average dining experiences. We have not visited every single restaurant in the area and therefore we are certain there may exist equally worthy venues that have not yet made it to this list. Also, visits and experiences may vary based on service and quality of food if for example, a restaurant changes their staffing or menu. We hope this does not happen, but if it does, we wish for you to give us feedback on any negative experience so that we can re-evaluate our review. We aspire to have this insert guide you to a wonderful meal.

Described as an eclectic, pet-friendly restaurant inside of a historic Victorian home in the upscale neighborhood of Windermere, this place knows how to do BBQ and all the locals are keeping it a secret. Their recipe is over the top, tangy and sweet and they have so many menu options to adorn your sandwich. The price is fair and well worth every penny. They even can their BBQ sauce to take home as a souvenir if it manages to survive the midnight snack cravings. We would personally recommend the Drunken Pig sandwich but any of their options have yet to disappoint and you should order to fit your own taste buds. The desserts are also worth mentioning!

The portions are daunting so be prepared to ask for a ‘to-go’ box but the taste is great. The price is moderate and be warned that the only location in Orlando currently is north of I-drive or about 30 minutes from most of our locations.
Founded in 1898, Gideons Bakehouse offers some of the best cookies we have ever tasted. These cookies are over the top and we suggest getting there early because lines can be terrible in the early afternoons, especially on weekdays. You are also limited to ordering 6 cookies on site. In the mood for that Thai flavor? The food here is exceptional but the service can sometimes be slow. We highly recommend the Yellow Curry or any of the Curry options on their menu. Also, if you enjoy sweet, cold coffee then the Thai Coffee is a nice twist on the usual Thai.

Forget the fact that Old Town is a little run down and in the midst of a renovation, if your willing to brave the area the food is well worth it at this ‘hole-in-the-wall’ Japanese restaurant. Maybe not the best sushi in the entire world but certainly some of the best in this area. The rice is cooked perfectly and the fish is fresh and the price is ideal as well. Recommendations at this restaurant are based on your preference in sushi.

Another strip mall gem. We would not have tried this restaurant if not for it being along our route of frequent travel. To our surprise, the food was excellent and the service was quick. It might not be a Michelin star restaurant but it is definitely a great option for Indian cuisine. The Chicken Tikka Masala is wonderful as well as the traditional Naan.

To our surprise, the food was excellent and the service was quick. It might not be a Michelin star restaurant but it is definitely a great option for Indian cuisine.
