The construction of the current basilica of San Pietro was begun on April 18, 1506 under Pope Julius II [3] and ended in 1626, during the pontificate of Pope Urban VIII, while the arrangement of the square in front was only completed in 1667. The drawings Originals of the basilica were found in 1866 by the Austrian art historian Heinrich von Geymüller.
However, this is a reconstruction, given that on the same site, before today's basilica, there was another dating back to the fourth century, built by the Roman emperor Constantine I on the area of Nero's circus and a contiguous necropolis where tradition has it that St. Peter, the first of Jesus' apostles, was buried after his crucifixion.
St. Peter's Basilica can be visited every day, except on religious holidays, from 9:00 to 17:00.

l Foro Italico comprende diversi impianti sportivi:
• Stadio Olimpico
• Stadio dei Marmi
• Parco del Foro Italico:
o Complesso natatorio del Foro Italico
o Stadio del tennis di Roma
o Grand Stand Arena
o Stadio Nicola Pietrangeli
o Circolo del Tennis del Foro Italico
Dal 1949 si tengono nei campi del foro gli Internazionali d'Italia, importante torneo di tennis del circuito ATP World Tour Masters 1000 e WTA Premier 5. Dal 2012, l'Olimpico ospita le partite casalinghe della nazionale italiana di rugby al Sei Nazioni.
