Within walking distance from the front door is Lud's Church. Lud's Church is a chasm created by a massive landslip on the hillside above Gradbach. It is in a wood known as Back Forest. Over 100 metres (328 ft) long and 18 metres (59 ft) deep, all but the upper third of the slope has slipped forward towards the River Dane. It is mossy and overgrown, wet and cool even on the hottest of days, so often a little bit slippery under foot.

One of the Peak District's most notable walks. Take a stroll directly from High Ridge for some spectacular views. You can see High Ridge from here! Our favourite walk is along the Roaches to Doxey Pool... about a 5-mile round trip. It's almost impossible not to get a great photograph from here to impress your friends on social media.

Known by some as the Matterhorn of Cheshire. Although to be frank, that's probably by people who haven't seen the Matterhorn. It is lovely though, and will give your legs a fair workout. We suggest a short drive to Macclesfield Forest as your base camp for the summit.
