Island Park | Portsmouth, RI

Island Park is home to a beautiful coastal line of the Sakonnet River. Grab some take out and walk along the water’s edge of Park Ave or take the kids to Grimmell's Beach (Island Park Beach) which is located steps from the cottage. There is also a Public Water Access Point at the bottom of the street (to the right) to launch kayaks, paddleboards, or fish. Enjoy breakfast, dining, or an ice cream treat with beautiful water views at some of the many restaurants located right on Park Ave. Don't forget to try the famous Flo's Drive-In Clam shack for some award-winning seafood. (see dining recommendations). Beyond Island Park, there is some much to explore in Portsmouth, RI. Take a day trip to Sandy Point Beach, a saltwater swimming beach within a 10 min drive. Restrooms, change-rooms, shallow water, and lifeguard supervision make this a great place for families with small children. For the adults, be sure to visit the Greenvale Vineyard’s, or the Ragged Island Brewing Co. for local beer and wine tastings. The Newport Car Museum, with over 80+ cars on display, is a great trip for car lovers or for a rainy-day. For the sports enthusiasts, Portsmouth is home to the Green Valley Country Club, the Newport Indoor Golf Simulators, and the Newport Polo Club. The "Rail Explores" offers an unforgettable scenic ride along historic Aquidneck Island and Narragansett Bay on a custom-built, pedal-powered vehicle - fun family day!
