This 17th century is build by the Italian merchant family of Barlotti. This is only canalhouse which is built on a corner. The house boasts beautiful 17th and 18th century interiors among which a rococo dance room. It’s certainly worth a visit and only 5 minutes from the Airbnb.

Café Hoppe is one of the local highlights. The café is was founded 1670 which makes it one of the oldest cafes in Amsterdam. Hoppe is a favorite among the Canal District residents. Particular on Friday night there is huge crowd to celebrate the start of the weekend. Tip: you have two entrances at Hoppe. On the left is where most tourists go. To meet the locals you should enter on the right.

A van Wees is one of my personal favorite bars in Amsterdam. It's a real traditional bar at the Herengracht. The family van Wees bought the property in 1973. Now, almost 50 years later they still uphold the traditions. The family van Wees also makes their one Genever which is a sort of dutch Gin. It is made in the Jordaan area, only 600 meters from your AirBnb

This is not your fine dining restaurant, rather an ‘eetcafe’ literally meaning Eating Cafe. That means it’s cafe where some dishes are prepared for their guests. This a good place if you want to try some local foods like: Stampot, Gehaktballen or Kroketten.

RIJKS is the restaurant of the rijksmuseum. Joris Bijdendijk is the executive chef of the restaurant. Together with his team Bijdendijk introduced his Low Countries’ cuisine, which is firmly rooted in Dutch produce – in all its modest glory. The chef and his young team draw their inspiration from ingredients grown on Dutch soil, often making use of the many international flavours that have influenced Dutch cuisine across the centuries. RIJKS is currently open for lunch from Wednesday to Saturday en for dinner from tuesday to saterday. Reservation is needed.

Taiko, the award-wining restaurant of the Conservatorium Hotel, was created by Executive Chef, Schilo van Coevorden to honour beautiful flavours and textures from across the Far East. The dishes are modern-Asian inspired, the appearance is international and the atmosphere is Amsterdam-casual. Whether it is the legendary sushi you come for, the handmade gyoza, the Wagyu steak that melts on your tongue, or an extensive food journey: you will always leave Taiko enriched with an everlasting experience. Taiko Cuisine is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight, reservation is needed.

Vuurtoreneiland is a restaurant located on a small island on the edge of the IJsselmeer bay to the East of Amsterdam. In the Summer this rugged outpost plays host to a temporary glass greenhouse whilst in Winter dinner is served in an underground bunker warmed by a fire and blankets. The idea is to eat “in and from nature”.  The restaurant has no electricity or running water so the environmental impact is paramount and the set menu is of course seasonal.  Despite a meat-based main on our visit, the menu is heavy on vegetables grown locally on the Beemster polder.  Prepared using ‘old-fashioned artisan techniques’ everything is cooked entirely on an open fire. Vuurtoreneiland is a full evening experience. The boat that brings you to the restaurant leaves from the Lloyd Hotel dock at 18.30 and returns 5 hours later at 23.30.  Alternatively the “Sunday matinee” offers a chance to leave at 16.00 and return at 21.00. With an hour’s boat journey each way that leaves 3 hours on the island for food and a chance to explore. Advance reservations are always required. It is not permitted to travel to the restaurant aboard a private boat. Visit the restaurant's website to check availability and make reservations.

Located in the upcoming neighbourhood of the Houthavens, near the harbour of Amsterdam, REM gives an unique view of the city. REM is located in former sea platform which was used to broadcast television from the North Sea. Don’t miss out on the view of the Jordaan and city Center from the rooftopbar.

Restaurant De Kas is tucked away in the Frankendael park in East Amsterdam. After an extensive renovation, the old greenhouse was given a new future as a restaurant. Eating under the roof of a greenhouse, looking up at the stars, with a view of the other greenhouses. De Kas is one of the first farm-to-table restaurants in the world. In 2018, Wim de Beer and Jos Timmer took over the company. Harvested in the morning, on your plate in the afternoon. That is the philosophy of restaurant De Kas. The gardens in Amsterdam and the Beemster are the heart and soul of the menu. They reflect the changing seasons and never fail to surprise. In the gardens- greenhouse and open air- they grow around 300 varieties of vegetables, herbs and fruits. Harvested at the very last minute and prepared in the kitchen as quickly as possible. De Kas is open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday. Reservation is needed.
