Hiking & Biking

The Blauherd-region is a fantastic region to explore in the summer time, but also in October when the Indian Summer begins! The trees are turning red, orange and yellow and and the temperatures are not too warm but also not too cold. Take the funicular up to Sunnegga and change over to the gondola which takes you to Blauherd. From here you can start your biking adventure or hiking route back down towards Zermatt or to Riffelalp. We can highly recommend for you take a break at the Grünsee (one of the many mountain lakes) or to enjoy a coffee at Alphitta (close to the Riffelalp station) which beautiful views of the mountains.

Purchase your summer ski pass (2 May 2023 until 31 October 2023) and take the cable car up to Klein Matterhorn to enjoy 21 kilometers of pistes. Our tip is to start early in the morning as you will get to experience the best conditions at that time. You will see ski teams from all over the world practising for the upcoming winter season. Take the gondola back down to Zermatt after lunch and change into your hiking clothes to make the most of your day!

Forest Fun Park

The Forest Fun Park (season opening 27 May 2023) offers something for everyone - young and old! The Kid's Trail is open for young adventurers from the age of 4 (120+ cm tall) and the Big Trails are accessible for everyone older than 8 years old. The Park also has a spacious terrace with Matterhorn views for those who wish to observe the adventurers while enjoying a cup of coffee or a cold beer. Can you already see yourself ziplining from one tree to another one during the Indian Summer?

It is important to note that the gondolas, trains and buses do not run as frequently compared to the busier seasons. Nowadays you can find the timetables for all public transport services as well as the gondolas and lifts online. To avoid disappointment we can strongly recommend for you to find out if the region you would like to visit is accessible during your stay (are the cable cars running, is it accessible on foot, and so on).
