City/town information
Southend has recently become a city, and is London’s nearest City Beach on the Thames Estuary in Essex. There’s loads to do in and around Southend and it boasts the worlds longest pleasure pier; Adventure Island; Sealife Adventure Aquarium; Arcades and Casinos; and seven miles of sandy beaches including five blue flag beaches and seven quality coast awards. Much of Southend is centred on the sands and seafront which are within walking distance from my cheerful Victorian bohemian home.
There is always a great buzz around Southend and there are loads of restaurants a stones throw away down the high street, as well as pubs, clubs, fish and chip shops and ice cream parlours, the cinema and a cool street market. It is also a university city, and a busy shopping centre and has art galleries, museums, and award winning parks and gardens ( and the Olympic cycling track is driving distance in the nearby Hadleigh Castle Park). Sainsbury's is at the end of the road so you literally have everything you might need right on your doorstep.
