There is also a liquor store.

One of our favorite places in the region is Point Rustin. Lots of restaurants, a movie theater, walking or biking trails right on the Puget Sound.
Also there's Chamber's Bay Golf Course; one of the best public courses in the country. They even played the U.S. Open there a few years ago. But you don't have to golf to enjoy Chambers Bay. You can walk the trails around the park and golf course.

Lake Youngs Trail
Right across the street from where you'll be staying. The trail is mostly gravel. It's 11+ miles around the reservoir. It takes you through wildlife populated forest. We've seen deer, elk, coyotes, and some others have reported black bear.
It's great for walking, running or trail bikes.

Lake Desire-Spring Lake trails
Lake Desire is a 5 minute drive North. Spring Lake is a 5 minute drive East. They are connected by a vast trail system that includes Echo Peak with it's breathtaking view of Mt. Rainier (on a clear day).

The Cedar River Trail
It's a paved trail for bikers, walkers and joggers. It runs right alongside the Cedar River from Maple Valley to Renton where it feeds into Lake Washington.
The trail is mostly level it's whole length. And their are several parks along its route where you can picnic.
The serenity of a long distance non-challenging bike ride beside the wild river is truly a joy.

For any time of year except perhaps July and August rain could be part of your visit. It could last for only a portion of the day or all day; depending on the time of year. Fortunately we're all water proof. But having a handy hat is preferable to an umbrella for many.
