Lone Pine's rugged Alabama Hills were the Hollywood backlot for many western movies filmed in the 1930s and 1940's. John Wayne was a regular here as was Roy Rogers. "The Lone Ranger" was filmed here, as were many scenes in The "Gladiator" starring Russell Crowe. The Film Museum has sets, costumes and Film Festivals of the films shot here. Truly a wonderful experience of Lone Pine's colorful history.
