Essentials

Eats
This is the most convenient grocery store from the house. It is on 75th and Cortes Rd. Further down Cortez Rd., (east) you will also find Walmart, Publix and Aldi's. For some local flavor got to the Cortez Kitchen or Swordfish Grill. Both places have happy hours and are next to each other. Bridge Street is very popular. Head out to the island at the light at the end of the bridge take a left. Bridge Street is at the roundabout. Shopping and dining. The dock is wonderful. To the beach....cross the bridge and go left is Coquina. On Sundays they have a market that is fun to stroll. Go right and a few miles down take Manatee Avenue left and in a block you are at Holmes Beach. Great breakfasts. Good coffee. Breakfasts. The beach cafes. The Cortez Cafe by the Post Office. And Sage Biscuit which is east on Cortez in the same shopping center as Anna Maria Oyster Bar, another good place to eat.

O'Shucks has raw oysters that are freshly popped to order. Their hogfish is to die for and they make great southern sides, like collards and beans. Plenty of non-fish options, too. You can tell I like my seafood.

I recommend the Seafood Shack because of the fantastic views and the food is very good too. My latest snack is the Crabby Nachos. Just delish.
