Beach Fun

You’ll find your place in the sand in Ocean View, home to Norfolk’s beaches. 7.3 miles of free, accessible and beautiful shoreline along the Chesapeake Bay is ready to greet you. Ocean View’s gentle waters are great for children, kayaking, floating, swimming or sitting at the edge of the water. The level, continuous beach attracts joggers and walkers. The Department of Parks & Recreation maintains three beach parks. All three feature parking, restrooms, benches and shade trees. Public Beach Access Locations: Atlans Street Bay Breeze Bay Streets: 3rd, 7th, 13th, 15th, 17th, and 19th Beach View Street Beaumont Street Cape View Avenue Cape View Avenue Grove Avenue Hammett Parkway Inlet Road Ocean View Park (4) Seabreeze Road Shipwatch Road Sturgis Street View Streets: 6th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 13th, and 15th Note: Access ramps and walkways to the beach can be found at Community Beach Park and Ocean View Beach Park.

This unique 6.5-acre beach park, is considered the jewel of Ocean View. The park has a large band shell for presentations and dancing, a beach with lifeguards in the summer, a boardwalk, beach handicap access ramp, and lots of open green space. Big Bands on the Bay ends the weekend with a sunset celebration on the Chesapeake Bay. Welcome the stars every Sunday night from 7pm to 9pm beginning May 29th and running through September 4th, 2022. Guests are invited down to the Gazebo at Ocean View Beach Park for live Big Band music and dancing. Between July 1st through August 26th, 2022, guests will be able to enjoy themed party nights, live performances from local and regional bands, Family Fun & Movie Nights, and so much more on Friday nights. Friday night events in Ocean View are a great way to start the weekend with Live Music on the Chesapeake Bay, children's activities, cornhole games, food, beverages and more!
