A medieval town on lake Orta. The hidden gem of the Italian northern lakes. The town centre is mainly pedestrian: the historic town of Orta San Giulio is a peninsula and you can walk all the way around it in a loop.
the island of San Giulio is quite small yet charming and very quiet. You can catch a boat from the main square, they are very frequent. Take a stroll, try the local restaurant, enjoy the view and art in the Basilica church.

A beautiful tranquil place. An ancient pilgrimage site filled with history art and secular exotic plants that were brought over as gifts from pilgrims. There are 24 chapels dedicated to the life and story of St. Francis of Assisi. there is also a beautiful church with stunning view over the lake.
the is the perfect spot for a picnic, there is even a designated area with tables and beautiful trees.
