Let's start with the basics

This is a traditional convenience store where we used to get our snacks growing up. It's in the main place of the town so you could grab a snack as you walk around and discover the town. Right next to it, you'll find the town's old and new St Michael's churches and the renovated municipality. It's a 5-minute walk from the house, but it would take you around 15 minute back as it is a steep upward road ;) There are other convenience stores around as well.

This is a large supermarket where you can find everything you need. Whether you're planning to host a bbq in the garden or just buy some groceries for your stay, it's a good one-stop-shop.

Food Food Food!

Boulmich is a traditional Lebanese fast food snack. From the house, you can get there by walking 10 minutes down to the center of the town and ask anyone :) It's a small traditional town so everyone knows Boulmich. If you eat meat, I recommend the submarine or the chicken sub. If not, you can ask for some vegetarian options.

Babel is a unique restaurant offering Lebanese cuisine with a twist. It's only a 10-minute ride by car.

My favorite sushi place around the area. It's a 5-minute ride by car from the house. It's a small restaurant so better reserve to make sure you get a table.

Knafe is a must-try for a traditional sweet breakfast. Warning: Only go for it if you love CHEESE & SUGAR! If you don't like much sweet, you can ask them to reduce the amount of syrup. And if you're craving even more, ask for chocolate syrup on top ;)

Salty breakfast you said? Treat yourself with a Man'oushe! It looks like a pizza and has different toppings (thyme, cheese, minced meat, spinach...) Wooden Bakery is open all day so you could also pass by for a pizza, sandwiches, salads... It's very close to the house, but on the other side of the main road so be careful when crossing the road :) You could also ask for a delivery and enjoy the food out in the garden.

Nature Activities

Also known as "Marbad", you need a 6-minute-ride to get there. As you enter, you can see a road with trees on one side and benches on the other side. As you walk, there are signs and hiking trails that you can take from this road. The hikes are not so long and really nice. If you're not up for a hike, you could go to a walk/jog or simply just sit and chill. Many people go there to walk their dogs. Kids also enjoy some slides, swings...

I have never camped there, but it's a nice place to spend the day if you like adrenaline rush and nature activities. There are zip lines, accrobranche, ATVs to rent, a giant swing, human babyfoot, archery, air rifle shooting range and much more... It also has a lot of activities for kids so you should be able to tolerate kids and noise haha. For food, you could bring your own meat/veggies and the place would provide you with a bbq to grill.. or you could just order some sandwiches there.. I must tell you, it's not an easy road to get there so it might be best to take a cab (30-minute ride).

Sightseeing

A MUST SEE!! If I give details, I might ruin the fun. I will just tell you that it's a 20-minute ride that is definitely worth it! Note: It opens and closes early. It also closes on Mondays so plan accordingly :)

Harissa, also known as "Our Lady of Lebanon" is a major touristic attraction for many reasons: 1. Religious: Some people go there as a devotion to Mary, to pray and/or attend a Christian mass 2. Bay View: As it is a shrine very high in the mountain, Harissa has an amazing view overlooking the Jounieh Bay. Even at night, the view is amazing with all the lighted houses across the mountain. 3. Cable car is fun which gets me to my other tip You could get there through 2 ways: 1. Take a cab from the house to Harissa (30-min ride) 2. Take a cab to Jounieh Téléférique SeaSide, from there you can take a cable car up to the top.. I personally recommend this second option if you're not afraid of heights

Déplacements

Public transport is almost inexistent in Lebanon!

Most convenient way is to uber or take a cab. You could text me if you need to call a cab. If you want to try to public bus for the experience: > the traditional buses: you simply walk up to the main road from the house for around 100 meters. Once you're on the main road, you wait for a bus to pass by and waive your hand so that it stops for you (yes, do not expect a bus stop) > "Connex" is a more organized bus network that goes only along the coast so you could try that too
