They have a good small bites menu that goes well with their handcrafted beers. It's a bit confusing that they go by the name Woodstock when their location is actually right in Phoenicia, but with beer this good, who cares? Plus , as they say, not even Woodstock happened in Woodstock!

If you want to hang with the locals in Woodstock, this is the place. Sometimes they have bands. It's housed in an old train depot, and full of character. Be warned though - it can get very loud and crowded.

Take a scenic drive on this close-by road and check out the many beautiful old cabins and lodge style homes tucked in between the newer ones. The creek runs along the entire length of the road, for about five miles, at which point it dead ends at a camp ground and a few good hiking trail heads.

A few times a year, I love to drive down to Mohonk, where you can buy a day pass that will get you a wonderful meal and use of the beautiful grounds for hiking, snow shoeing, and so much more. Hanging out in the hotel makes you feel like you are in the Alps. It is beautiful and so old fashioned, a classic Catskills landmark.

Hanging out in the hotel makes you feel like you are in the Alps. It is beautiful and so old fashioned, a classic Catskills landmark.

Moderate in grade, the whole thing takes just a few hours and is filled with surprises, and endless waterfalls. The drive there is also beautiful, and the highlight is an old covered bridge just before the turn to the Hollow!

If you are lucky to be here on Halloween and the few nights before it, they do the most wonderful and intricate display of carved and lit up pumpkins. You really have to see it to believe it, it is one of our most treasured local Halloween traditions!
