Parks & Nature

A favorite spot for locals when it gets really hot. Very few tourists know about it. It's a small spring-fed lake that provides cool water and shade to beat the Texas heat. Tube rentals, food concession. Diving boards, trapeze swing, slides. So fun. You can bring your own picnic basket and cooler with drinks. They have grills for cooking burgers or hot dogs.

Crazy popular park along the Trinity River, used mostly by locals. Great for walking/running/cycling and exploring. 40 miles of trails. Some parts are very busy, and others more quiet. Definitely one of our faves. Along the trail, you find a food truck park, periodic water fountains, access to the river, and interesting sites. Also a duck pond and a big hill you can slide down if you have a piece of cardboard.

One of our faves. This is 7.5-acre Japanese Garden in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. It is stunningly beautiful and extremely peaceful. There is a large koi pond and mini gardens within the garden. It is probably more enjoyable on week days other then weekends. Be sure to bring some quarters so you can buy food to feed the koi.
