One of my favorite little Mexican places. Parking can be difficult, it's usually just easier to walk from the house. If you are a fan of margaritas, mole or albondigas soup, you can't go wrong here. Did I mention the margaritas?

If you're in town, you have to check out Porto's. Prepare to wait in line, but it's worth the wait...trust me. You'll want to try the fried potato balls and the meat pies at this Cuban bakery and definitely save room for desert!

The best pizza in town. If you're planning a night in, have it delivered because the dining area there is small and not much to write home about. Interesting fact, the salads at this place are phenomenal. Give it a try, you can't go wrong.

Great Italian food in a cool atmosphere. The waiters randomly sing with the live piano player and it's a perfect place to take friends and family. Secret tip: order the baked cookie desert, just let the server know when you sit down because it takes some time to make but it's worth the wait.

This local gem is nestled in the hills with a spectacular setting overlooking the entire San Fernando Valley. The food is great, but pricey. Perfect for a night out and the weekend brunch is spectacular. If you're looking to save some money try to hit happy hour and take advantage of their sunset menu if you can. Sit outside, have a drink and enjoy the views!

This place is an institution and it's been in the Toluca Lake Village for decades. In my opinion, it's the best local option for breakfast, but they also have lunch and dinner.

This is a fun place to hit up and on Friday nights all of the old cars come in and you can check them out. The food is about what you'd expect, it's perfect for that late night craving since it is open 24 hours. I recommend the chocolate brownie sundae...can't go wrong with that.

Sightseeing

This is a great starting point if you're looking to go to the Walk of Fame. The complex at Hollywood and Highland has a huge outdoor mall and easy parking. It's also just one stop on the metro if you decide to take public transit. Keep an eye on your purse or wallet, there are several street performers and this whole area can just be a little overwhelming for the first time visitor. Insider tip: purchase a drink or coffee while there and have your parking validated.

If you're doing the walk of fame, you have to check out the Chinese Theatre where you can find the footprints and handprints of the stars. It's a must-do once in your life...but you probably won't have any desire to do it more than once. Cool Tip: It's actually a really great movie theatre with some of the best sound. If you're going to go, I suggest actually seeing a movie there.
