Hands-down best pizza/local brew/excellent hearty salads & house root beer and creme soda. The ONLY con is that they can get really busy in there &the parking & waiting can take 40 min. Open til 11ish

One of our favorite little Thai houses nearby. They always let us add broccoli / spinach to our favorite green curry! :) It's an easy walk from the house, which is a bonus.

They have food but we would say go there for the smoothies or the organic coffee. The tiny outdoor patio in the back is a bonus, on sunny days. :)

One of our favorites. Tasty dark roast coffee, excellent quiche, and lovely little nibbles like dark chocolate-covered almonds. They have mocha specials every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday. :)

The coffee shop closest to our house, it's one of the nicest, & just across Springer Park! Easy to overlook as it's hidden inside one of the tall glass business buildings. Caveat: only open Mon - Fri.

Adjacent to Loussac Library. A gorgeous, wide-open park in the middle of the city, popular with dogwalkers and young families. Has a large pond with a gaggle of geese and ducks always coming & going.

Neat spot with informational plaques on the 1964 earthquake. This park is also on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, one of our favorite paved multi-use trails. IT goes from downtown to Kincaid Park!
