Personally I prefer Edam, Marken and Monnickendam, because they are less touristic and more authentic. But Volendam is famous. I think Marken is most special, especially the type of houses and small streets.

Beautiful tradional houses on a small island. You can take the bus or if you like, it is also nice to go biking from our house; halfway a ferry, biking through the polders and along the dikes. Biking takes around one hour.
