Food Scene

You didn’t think you’d come to Miami and not have Cuban food, did you? That would be plain unacceptable, as would not paying a visit to El Palacio de Los Jugos. Be prepared to learn some Spanish (it’s the language of choice here) to place your order. Words like batido (milkshake), lechon (pork), and chicharron (pork rind) are amongst the most important, and are the one’s you’ll want to nosh on.

My family is in love with this restaurant. We go here very often. It offers traditional Thai and Vietnamese dishes at a very reasonable price.

Parks & Nature

Contrary to the name, you won’t find sharks in this National Everglades Park. You will, however, ride bikes alongside alligators on 15 miles of paved road and take in breathtaking views of the ecological surroundings and wildlife from the observation tower. If you’re feeling adventurous, hop aboard a kayak and paddle through the mangrove forest and open waters of the Florida Bay on one of the daylong trails.

Shopping

The Falls Shopping Mall is a great place to visit. The mall has a nice and inviting outdoor atmosphere but there is ample shade and sheltered walkways for coverage from the rain. The Falls also has plenty of nice restaurants and stores. Some of our favorite restaurants include P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Los Ranchos Restaurant, and Bj's Restaurant and Brew-house. The mall also includes stores like The Apple Store, Macy's, and Bloomingdale's are also great places to shop. There is also a movie theater in the shopping center. There is plenty of public parking as well.

Essentials

Great place to get your clothing dry cleaned or washed. They offer everything from dry cleaning to washing/folding clothes. Washing and folding service requires a minimum amount and they charge by the pound. The ladies that work here do a great job remembering your name and helping out. If something isn't right, they correct it fast without any issue. Prices are reasonable and your clothes come out perfect every time or they make it right without hesitation.

Arts & Culture

What was once a desolate green patch of land, known as Bicentennial Park, is now a 30-acre urban playground with striking views of Biscayne Bay and the completely sustainable Perez Art Museum Miami. Dubbed PAMM by locals, the state of the art facility was designed by renowned architects Herzog and Meuron and features contemporary art from the 20th and 21st century. Pro tip: Grab lunch at Verde, where executive chef Katylin Brakerfield uses the current exhibit to create a special menu.
