In the Asheville River Arts District, this is one of our favorite BBQ places. It's famous for their Blueberry Chipotle ribs, but there are simply no bad choices on the menu. They have odd hours, but it's worth the trouble (11:30 to 6:30, closed weekends). Try their Arden, NC location for Saturday hours. You'll want to leave early, and plan to stay late, as the River Arts District is a one of a kind destination for handmade arts & crafts.

The River Arts District, located near Downtown Asheville and the Biltmore, is my favorite place to visit in Asheville. Once a dying industrial wasteland, this riverside area along the railroad tracks is now home to 185 artists in 25 buildings. Make sure to get a map. There are larger galleries featuring many artists as well as smaller spaces where you can see artists at work and buy directly from them.
