We are mid-way between Downtown Spartanburg (Wofford College) and Downtown Greenville (Furman University) and all the exciting festivals, speciality shopping and craft beer crawls, foodie events, and farm to table local eating you could want. I have several local tabloids at the Boathouse for you to look through if you are not from this area and need some suggestions. Downtown Greer, 10 minutes away, features local brewery, coffee houses, and local seafood, pizza and more. Walmart delivers groceries so make your own meal in kitchen.

Taylor's Mill, in old Taylors, is a textile mill in the process of restoration. Interesting visit and the Taylor's Mill coffee shop and roaster is interesting. Several new restaurants are open, as well as craft studios. About 20 minute drive from The Boathouse. See some of the original south, and what the new generation is crafting.

Hatcher Gardens is a favorite spot, free and open to the Public. This public community and volunteer supported garden teaches about the garden and all things growing in this area. A wonderful way to spend the morning.

You can also fish (with license) from the pier. This is the public put-in and launch- must have permit to put a water vehicle on the lake.
