Ask anyone about what they consider a “Must See” while visiting Puerto Rico and they will most likely say Old San Juan. That is because this old historic city offers so much. There is literally something for everyone: beautiful views (great for photographers), architecture, restaurants, art, museums, shopping, history, sculptures, people-watching, music, dance, bars and nightclubs. But, to get the most out of a visit to Old San Juan, it is best to follow a self guided walking tour (like ours!) so that you don’t miss out on something you really would have liked to have seen.

It is a reservoir located between the municipalities of San Sebastián, Quebradillas, and Isabela in Puerto Rico. This man-made lake was created in 1929. The lake receives flow from the Guajataca River and can be used for fishing. The reservoir provides water to the inhabitants of northwestern Puerto Rico. It is also the location of Camp Guajataca, the island’s main camping grounds of the Boy Scouts of America. The lake area is 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the island and provides year round recreational opportunities and outdoor activities including fishing for bass, tilapia and catfish, kayaking, nature watching and relaxing in general. Fishing can be good at Lake Guajataca, you can catch different typies of fresh water fish, such as, Peacock Bass (Tucunare), Large Mouth Bass (Lobina), Sunfish, Perch (Chopas), Catfish (Barbudo), Tilapias (Tilapias) and Threadfin Shad (Cetin sardina de agua dulce) the last being baitfish. I hope you enjoy the photos. Lago Guajataca was built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers by building a dam across the river Río Guajataca and is owned by the Puerto Rico Electrical Authority. Many schools, businesses, and organizations, including a parador, Boy Scout Camp, and kayak excursion company are named for the area and water way as well. You can enjoy the Puerto Rican cuisine available at the lake’s surroundings.

Puerto Rico is one of the best kept secrets in the Caribbean! Not only is it home to the only US tropical rainforest and three of only five bioluminescent bays in the world, its crystal waters, white sand beaches and endless reefs will make you never want to return home. Icacos, Palomino, and Palominito are three amazing islands off the east coast of Puerto Rico and we can take you to those islands. Icacos is probably the most popular one but they're all beautiful!
